FAQs

If you have additional questions, reach out to Marissa at marissawalch@gmail.com

  • U.S. citizens traveling to Indonesia, currently require a passport valid for at least six months beyond their arrival date, with at least two, preferably blank, pages. A visa is required, which can be obtained as a Visa on Arrival (VoA/e-VoA) for 500,000 IDR (approx. $35), valid for 30 days. A return/onward ticket and a completed online Electronic Customs Declaration are also mandatory.

  • You will fly into Ngurah Rai International Airport, also known as Denpasar Airport (DPS). Traffic in Bali can be awful, so it could take anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours to get from DPS to Ubud.

  • Yikes – NOOOOO say it ain’t so! Ok, ya, we get it. Life happens. All payments, however, are non-refundable (boooo I know). You can transfer it to someone else if you find someone to take your place. But, like, please don’t cancel. Just COME.

  • Please reach out to Marissa to discuss a payment plan that works for you! marissawalch@gmail.com

  • Yes, this is a co-ed retreat. However, if males don't sign up with a roommate, and want one, and there are no other males to pair as roommates, you may be required to pay a single supplement. Please reach out to discuss if you are a guy thinking about joining us!

  • YES It is. Whether you have NEVER done yoga or you consider yourself an ADVANCED yogi- our yoga offerings are a fun place to explore yoga & your body. You are not too small, too big, too ‘unhealthy’, too stiff…you are perfectly designed to attend as you are right now. COME.

  • It is strongly recommended for your protection- not only for travel related issues, but for any unexpected illnesses, emergencies or other reasons you cannot attend the retreat. We don’t offer refunds or credits for any reason, so we want you to be protected. You can check with Squaremouth.com to compare plan options or use any company that you feel comfortable with.

  • Yes we can accommodate most allergies or aversions. In Ubud, all provided meals will be either vegetarian or vegan, as the restaurant does not offer any meat products.

  • No alcohol, smoking, plant medicine or burning anything is allowed on the grounds of Lumeria (the bungalows & yoga shala venue).

There are off-site options if you care to enjoy alcohol on your trip, and alcohol is permitted at the other hotels.

  • Yes, all rooms have air conditioners.

  • Normally, yes. However, being a 3rd world country, there are times when we may lose power.

  • This might be a new experience for you, but in most of Bali, you should not flush toilet paper, as the plumbing systems and narrow pipes cannot handle it, leading to frequent clogging. Most toilets feature a handheld sprayer (bum gun) or a bidet for cleaning. Use this for hygiene and the toilet paper only for drying, placing it in the bin afterwards. (Don’t be scared of this, you might like it so much that you come home & install a bidet for your own toilet, like Teri did! haha!)

  • Bali uses Type C and Type F power sockets, which are the standard European two-round-pin types, operating at 230V and 50Hz, so travelers from North America, Australia, or the UK usually need a travel adapter, and potentially a voltage converter for single-voltage items like hairdryers, though most modern electronics (phones, laptops) handle the higher voltage.

  • Yes, wifi is widely available. If you want to have access to data at all times, we recommend using an e-SIM for international data. Teri uses www.airalo.com for her travel data needs, as it is much more affordable than the international data via cellular carrier. Teri bought 10GB for $21 on her last 2 week trip to Bali & with heavy data usage & didn’t use all of the data.

Use code TERI8098 for $3 off your first purchase. Make sure your phone is unlocked - feel free to ask questions about this!

  • Yes you can arrange that with the hotels directly, or we can make recommendations to stay in alternative areas.

  • No. Bali uses the Indonesian Rupiah. For a good exchange rate, you can order foreign currency ahead of time from your bank. Alternatively, you can take cash out of an ATM upon arrival. We do not recommend using the smaller ATMs not associated with an official bank, or using small money changer establishments, to avoid fraud. Many stores and restaurants do accept credit cards, but American Express is less commonly accepted than Visa or Mastercard.

  • There are several quick-marts within walking distance.

  • Yes, every room has a computer size safe in their room which is recommended to use for valuables. We are not responsible for your belongings. We recommend leaving your unnecessary valuables at home.

  • Yes, Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are provided.

  • This is your vacation, and while we encourage everyone to participate in everything if you opt out of any activity, it is totally up to you.

  • Yoga mats are provided at each shala, but you are welcome to bring your own as well.

  • Menstruating women are not allowed to enter temples in Bali.

What People Are Saying

“Traveling and working with Marissa has been a dream. She always creates an environment of fun and inclusion. This trip was extra special because we all got to experience a new place together (and made lots of new friends doing so!). Looking forward to many more retreats in the future!”

“When I told some colleagues I was heading to Nicaragua for a yoga retreat, I got some very funny looks. Meditation and the more “mindful” side of yoga can be very difficult for me. But I am so glad that I trusted Marissa to create an unforgettable 6 days. The resort was incredible and the people I got to spend those 6 days with have had more of an impact on me than they will probably ever know. Marissa already knows I think she’s a great yoga instructor, but there was something incredibly special about practicing with such an amazing group and in such a magical place.”
